The Bicycle House, Notting Hill

Lex McMillan Architects were engaged to redevelop an old bicycle repair workshop into a luxurious and comfortable 3 bedroom maisonette apartment. We gained planning permission to add a rear roof terrace and an additional storey to provide for a 3rd bedroom and sun deck with views over the roof scape of Notting Hill.

The brief was ‘Chelsea classical’ but with a clean modern twist. The greatest challenge was the introduction of the steel framed, timber clad staircase within an existing building that contained few straight lines. A very successful project that led to additional commissions.
