Queens Gate Mews, Kensington, SW7

2016

We were asked to provide additional basement accommodation as part of a full renovation to a dilapidated mews close to The Albert Hall in Kensington. Kitchen and living accommodation were relocated to the lower floors with light directed down via a series of large new light wells.

The centre piece of the design was a continuous elliptical steel and timber stair case built and shipped from Holland. This runs from basement level to terminate below a fully retractable glass roof leading to a secluded roof terrace. The client requested gold polished plaster to the rear wall of the staircase and ‘tigers eye’ striped oak floor throughout contributing to what was a fabulous and luxurious project.

This formed part of a series of design projects completed for this individual client and we are most grateful for the trust they placed with us. This was also one of various projects undertaken with Kenham Building Ltd. as the main contractor.
